Inside an upper storey: wall frames, strap bracing and flooring sheets

Flooring sheets: yellow tongue, Hebel and ALPHAFLOOR

We deliver the flooring that goes over your floor frame, so you can order it with your frames, trusses and floor system, anywhere in NSW.

Particleboard flooring

The colour on the tongue tells you which board it is.

Yellow tongue

19 mm. The all-purpose board for general residential floors.

Red tongue

22 mm. A thicker board for wider joist spacings or heavier loads.

Blue tongue

25 mm. A heavy-duty board for bigger loads.

Concrete and wet-area flooring

ALPHAFLOOR

Solid concrete floor panels, 570 × 2700 mm and 35 mm thick, often used for upper floors where you want a quieter, more solid floor.

Hebel floor panels

Lightweight aerated concrete floor panels, another way to get a solid, quieter upper floor.

Scyon Secura

Fibre cement flooring for bathrooms, laundries and other wet areas.

Choosing a floor

Yellow tongue suits most dry areas of a home. Red tongue and blue tongue are for wider joist spacings and heavier loads, as your engineer or the manufacturer specifies.

ALPHAFLOOR and Hebel make an upper floor feel solid and cut down footstep noise, but they're far heavier than particleboard. The floor trusses or I-joists underneath have to be designed for that weight, so decide before the floor system is designed, not after.

Bathrooms, laundries and other wet areas need a wet-area floor such as Scyon Secura, often with a set-down in the floor frame. Mark the wet areas on your plans.

Flooring questions

Which flooring do I need for an upper floor?

Yellow tongue is the all-purpose choice. ALPHAFLOOR or Hebel give a more solid, quieter floor but are heavier, so the floor system must be designed for them. Wet areas need a wet-area floor such as Scyon Secura.

What's the difference between yellow, red and blue tongue?

Thickness and strength. Yellow tongue is 19 mm, red tongue 22 mm and blue tongue 25 mm, for wider joist spacings and heavier loads.

Can I order flooring without frames or trusses?

Yes. Tell us what you need on the quote form and the site suburb, and we'll price it delivered.
